Why a separate session for expats? Because families abroad keep running into the same four questions, and the answers are not in the general admissions guides. A U.S. citizen at an international school is not an international applicant — citizenship, not residence, decides that — which changes eligibility for federal aid and removes the proof-of-funds and visa steps entirely. It also changes who reads the file: applications are usually routed to the officer responsible for that region, who knows the local curriculum.
The curriculum question. IB, A-Levels, the Abitur and a U.S.-style diploma are read differently, and a school profile that explains the grading scale does more for an application than another activity line. We show what a strong profile looks like and what admissions officers are actually comparing.
Turning the experience into an application. Living abroad is an asset only if the application makes it concrete: languages actually used, responsibilities actually held, a perspective that shows up in the essay rather than being announced in it. Most of the session is spent on that, with examples.
